Meet our teacher, Mrs. Taig!

I would like to introduce myself to you, my name is Darlene Taig. I will be your child’s teacher at Willow Creek Cooperative Preschool (WCCP).

I have been a preschool teacher since 1989. I spent over 10 years teaching with the Head Start program. First, as a home based teacher of 3 year olds; then, as a classroom teacher for 3 and 4 year olds. When Wayne County Regional Educational Agency gave up the grant, I left the program. I then went to work for the Garden City School District in their 4plus program. I began teaching at WCCP in September of 2000.

I currently hold two Child Development Associate credentials, one in home based teaching and the other is for in-center teaching. I have 30 hours of training in High Scope. I currently have 90 college and university credits, most from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Forty four of those credit hours are in Early Childhood.

My classroom is a developmentally appropriate mix of academic preparation of active learning. My curriculum is based on State of Michigan guidelines. My goal for every child who enters my classroom is to become a successful lifelong learner.

I look forward to working with your child and you.

Sincerely, Mrs. Taig

Meet our assistant teacher, Mrs. Bourgeois (Mrs. B.)!

Hello my name is Mary Anne Bourgeois (the kids call me Mrs. B). I have been working as the teacher's assistant since 2007. I was formally a Parent at Willow Creek in 2002 - 2004 with Mrs. Taig as my son's first teacher. I also held the membership chair on the executive board while my son was in the 4 year class.

I have attended many teachers’ workshops including: Skill Focused Teaching Materials, Math for Every Season, Stress in Childhood, Teacher Made Games, Germs and Hand Washing, Nutritional Tips and Trends, Challenging Behaviors for the 18 month to 5 Year Old, Seasonal Science, The Music Lady 101 and Ideas for Parachute and Dramatic play.

During my time as a parent, board member, and teacher at WCCP I have met many wonderful families and many are still friends. The opportunity to return to WCCP, to teach and play with the children has been a rewarding experience. I look forward to meeting and working with your child and you.

Thank you,

Mrs. B.
